Artist: James Bohary

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. in 1940, James Bohary currently lives and works in Manhattan.

Among the many Museums in which his work may be found are: The Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., Hood Museum in Hanover, N.H., The National Academy of Design in NYC, the Snite Museum at Notre Dame University, the Wellesley College Museum, the Indiana University Art Museum, the State University in Austin, Texas, and The University of Kentucky Art Museum, Lexington, Ky.

His paintings have been selected for exhibition at many fine galleries and institutions including: Jaffe-Friede & Strauss Galleries, Dartmouth College, Joan Prats Gallery, Art Grafic Galeria d’Art in Barcelona, Spain, Galeria Altair in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, The Brooklyn Museum, the Johnson Museum of Art, Ithaca, NY, the American Academy & Institute of Arts and Letters, NYC, and the Elizabeth Harris Gallery.His solo exhibitions have been reviewed in the New York Times, Arts Magazine, Art World,Art Speak, The Christian Science Monitor, and Cover Magazine.

James Bohary studied at New York University and the School of Visual Arts and continued his study of painting with Philip Giuston at the New York Studio School in New York City.He currently teaches art at the State University of New York, Binghamton, NY.James has received many Awards and Honors from such institutions as the National Endowment for the Arts, Washington, DC, the American Academy & Institute of Arts and Letters, the National Academy of Design, and the Pollock/Krasner Foundation, all of NYC.
“I use color and form to create a statement of unity based upon observations that go beyond the surface appearance of all aspects of my environment.It is my hope that the visual language which is reveled in my paintings will have the ability to be understood by all people regardless of the manner in which they write or speak.”
